Description	Dr. William F. Barry Jr. joined Duke in 1955 as an Assistant Professor and Chief of the Radiology Service at the Durham Veterans Administration Hospital. After 2 years, he moved to a full time position at Duke until his retirement in 1980 as a Professor of Radiology. The radiology residents voted him as the first “Outstanding Teacher Award” and after his death, this annual award has been named the “William F. Barry, Jr. Memorial Award for Excellence in Teaching.”
