  • Marion Frances Batchelder was supervisor of operating room services for 30 years at Duke Hospital. She received her R.N. degree from the Peter Bent Bringham Hospital in Boston and worked there for several years as head nurse and operating room supervisor. She then went on to be a part of the operating room staff at Johns Hopkins Hospital where she met Deryl Hart who invited her to join the original hospital staff at Duke. She took a leave of absence from 1953-1955 to work with the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission in Japan. She retired from Duke on August 31, 1960.
