The Orthopaedic Division of the Surgery Department began in 1930 with the opening of Duke Hospital. Dr. Warner Wells was a member of the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission, and translated and edited “Hiroshima Diary, the Journal of a Japanese Physician.”
