- These minutes of the Hyperbaric Operating Committee, Duke University Medical Center, dated March 30, 1965 make reference to two recently awarded training grants - one included the training of physician assistants. "The committee agreed further to the appointment of Mr. James Mau to administer the training grants." The role and use of PAs within the Medical Center was discussed and it was suggested that a committee be established "to oversee the development of this and other similar educational programs."
