Description
  • Alfred Sadler, APAP president, sent this draft copy of expanded eligibility criteria for the 1974 NBME examination to the Executive Committee of APAP on December 20, 1973 requesting their reactions and comments. He also asks for suggestions about "the best organization to administer the review applications" - perhaps the Federation of State Medical Boards or another "special national structure to do this job." The eligibility requirements include: at least five years of prior health care experience, a high school diploma or equivalent; and completion of a detailed application form listing positions held, formal education, informal training and current work experience. A physician who had worked at least one year with the applicant had to verify the work experience. A list of tasks that must have been performed by the applicant is provided.
