Description
  • Minutes of the Task Force on Physician's Assistant Programs of the AMA and AAMC Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) that met at the Palmer House Hotel, Chicago, IL on February 11, 1971. The committee accepted the National Academy of Sciences, Board of Medicine's definitions of type A, B and C physician's assistants and considered an array of issues concerning: the education of PAs and accreditation of PA programs; professional relationships between PAs, physicians and nurses; role of specialty boards in education of PAs; and relationship between accreditation, certification and licensure. Each of these issues are discussed in detail. An attached article from RN [Journal] dated October 1970 listed PA programs with the "type category" entered in the margin. The Duke and the Medex educational models are categorized as A type programs.
