  • In April 1972, the National Board of Medical Examiners accepted the recommendation of its Committee on Goals and Priorities that the NBME assume responsibility for developing a national certifying examination for assistants to the primary care physician. An advisory committee was appointed to advise the NBME with respect to policy matters related to the development of the certifying examination. This is the advisory committee's report.
