Description
  • Secretary's Newsletter written by William Stanhope and distributed to members of the American Academy of Physician's Associates. This appears to be one of many similar newsletters written by Mr. Stanhope during his tenure as secretary of the AAPA in the early 1970s. The newsletter mentions a meeting between Mr. Godkins (AAPA President), Dr. Alfred Sadler (President, American Registry of Physician's Associates) and Mr. Stanhope (AAPA secretary) and representatives of the AMA at the AMA headquarters on August 29, 1972 to "recognize the AAPA as an appropriate professional organization to represent physician's assistants on the joint review committee (for accreditation)." Also, it is announced that the "October issue of the Journal will contain the proceedings of the Fourth Annual Duke Conference." Interestingly, the upcoming meeting in Wichita Falls, TX in early April is referred to as the "Fifth Conference on Physician's Associates." When held in April, the conference's title becomes the "First National Conference On New Health Practitioners" to attract MEDEX, Nurse Practitioners, and specialty trained PAs, in addition to PAs educated according to the Duke Curricular Model.
