Item Description

Description
  • Medical student members of Nu Sigma Nu. Nu Sigma Nu was founded in 1881 at the University of Michigan, making it the oldest medical fraternity in the nation. At least five fraternities have been founded at the Duke University School of Medicine: Alpha Kappa Kappa, Alpha Omega Alpha, Nu Sigma Nu, Phi Beta Pi, and Phi Chi. These societies maintained lounges on the first floor of the School of Medicine (then opposite the Duke Hospital store) until 1938, after which some of them established residence headquarters off the campus.
