Description
  • This memorandum was sent to Northeast Regional Societies of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) by the Vermont Society of Physician Assistants (VSPA) in 1977 requesting them to reject plans by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) to end the "grandfather" clause in 1980. This clause allowed informally trained physician assistant to challenge the national certifying examination. "By restricting individuals who are not AMA approved program graduates from sitting for the NBE (i.e., examination), the careers of many qualified individuals, whose states may only recognize nationally certified PAs, may be terminated."
