- This document released in July 1969 describes action taken by the American Medical Association House of Delegates on medical staff membership of allied health professionals in hospitals. The adopted statement was to be disseminated to "all hospital medical staffs." The medical staff is to determine the qualifications of each category of allied health professional and privileges should be considered for each individual based on his professional training, experience and demonstrated competency. The bylaws must reflect the organizational pattern and relationship of the affiliate staff to the medical staff and "not be established as an organizational entity."
