- This October 1978 Preceptor Manual was produced by the PA Program, Baylor College of Medicine, to provide information to clinical preceptors and others interested in the education and use of physician assistants. The guidelines "are intended as general guidelines and not rigid policy." The manual defines the 4-week community-based clerkship and the approach to clinical rotations (resources, orientation, teaching, supervision and grading). It provides instructional guidelines and duties allowed (e.g., histories, discussing orders, drawing blood specimens, and making interim summaries) and not allowed (e.g., prescribing medications).
