Description |
- This 5 August 1975 memorandum from Tom Godkins, President of the AAPA, to Academy representative on the NCCPA, provides excerpts from unapproved minutes of the BOD meeting held July 12, 1975. Two main issues are addressed: (1) the development of specialty examinations and (2) after one year, the representatives perceptions of the Commission's operation, communication issues and the "surgical problem." He states that the Academy Board "is in support of generic certification: developing a core examination upon which specialty examinations could be built and certifying individuals as physician's assistants in primary care, physician's assistants in surgery, etc." Godkins expresses Dr. Richard Rosen's concerns that if a surgical examination is not developed soon that the surgical PAs will go their own way and will "tend to only fragment the voice of PAs throughout the country."
