Little Jake

Item Description

Description
  • This small diver doll, named Jack, was made in the early 1930's by Charles Shilling and diver friends. Jake's apparel is an authentic representation of the diving gear of that era. Jake's hands formerly belonged on one of daughter Charlotte's dolls and so Jake was added to her collection. He was periodically removed from the collection to serve as a prop when Shilling gave one of his 86 talks recalling the rescue of the submarine Squalus. Jake was willed to grandson Darnell Simonel who used to scuba dive with his grandfather.
