Description
  • Orgain was a professor of medicine from 1934 to 1975. Together with Mary Poston, a bacteriologist, he published extensively on diagnosis and treatment of endocarditis in the pre–penicillin era. In 1945 he founded Duke’s Cardiovascular Disease Service. Orgain was nicknamed “Hotel Harry” by his colleagues because his impeccable clothing style resembled that of a hotel manager.
