  • (Left to right) Richard Sherman Lyman, Wilburt Cornell Davidson, Robert Lee Flowers, Adolph Meyer, Robert Sproul Carroll, and Frederic Moir Hanes. Lyman was chair of the Department of Neuropsychiatry at Duke from 1940 to 1951. Davidson was Dean of the School of Medicine from 1927 to 1960. Carroll was a lecturer in neuropsychiatry at Duke from 1941 to 1949. Flowers was Duke University President from 1941 to 1949. Duke Hospital's Meyer Ward was named for Adolph Meyer. Hanes was chair of the Department of Medicine at Duke from 1933 to 1946.
