Description
  • This newsletter includes minutes of the Academy's Board of Directors' meeting held March 27, 1974 at the Monteleone Hotel, New Orleans, LA, a summary of the Second Annual Conference with list of officers and committee chairs, and a list of newsworthy items. A letter was read from the Joint Review Committee (on accreditation) recognizing the Academy as a collaborating organization with three representatives. By-law amendments were approved to help the Academy gain tax exempt status and the Board decided not to respond to the "dialectic letter" sent to the AMA complaining that the recent NBME certifying exam was not difficult enough to weed out less educated PAs. A list of committee chairs and officers is included in the newsletter. It is noted that the Medex Communications Center located in Seattle, WA had been discontinued and that the Academy would take over the role of providing a National Employment Listing Service. The Academy membership included 503 fellow members and 724 student members.
