Description
  • This 1975 report to the congress was compiled by the Comptroller General of the United States to (1) report on the problems that hamper the extenders in improving health care delivery and (2) present recommendations to the Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare for remedying these problems. The review was pursuant to the Budget and Accounting Act, 1921 and the Accounting and Auditing Act, 1950. The reports covers initial period of DHEW funding of about 100 PA training programs from 1969-1970. Detailed description of early program curricular approaches, deployment of graduates, and barriers to utilization (i.e., reimbursement, legal, and malpractice issues).
