- Correspondence sent by John McQueary, President of the American Academy of Physicians' Associates, to D. Robert Howard, MD, a Board Advisor, calling for meeting of the Board of Advisors during the upcoming Fourth [Duke] Annual Conference on Physician's Assistants to be held in Durham, NC on April 20-21, 1972. Mr. McQueary mentions making contact with representatives of the American Association of Physician's Assistants and the National Association of Physician's Assistants and his concern of "their impact on organized medicine and, more specifically, their goals and functions." He points out the lack of financial stability of the AAPA and need for Advisors to consider alternative funding sources.
