  • News release from the American Medical Association dated September 12, 1972 announcing the approval of the first PA training programs approved by accreditation. The programs receiving approval were: Alderson-Broaddus College, Phillipi, WV; Bowman-Gray School of Medicine, Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, NC; the Brooklyn Hospital, Brooklyn, NY; and the Duke University School of Medicine, Durham, NC. Other programs are listed as receiving Preliminary Approval and Provisional Approval. The categories of approval are defined within the news release.
