The Duke Department of Anesthesiology reflects the comprehensive effort of an exceptional team of anesthesia physicians, nurses, and staff to advance patient care within Duke University Medical Center and the field of medicine at large. Through excellence in physician leadership, research, education, and innovation, the Department of Anesthesiology improves perioperative outcomes and establish the very best in patient care.

The Department of Anesthesiology is made up of the following divisions: Ambulatory Anesthesiology; Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology; Community; Critical Care Medicine; General, Vascular and Transplant Anesthesiology; Neuroanesthesiology, Otolaryngology and Offsite Anesthesiology; Pain Medicine; Pediatric Anesthesiology; Orthopaedics, Plastics and Regional Anesthesiology; Veterans Affairs Anesthesiology Service; and Women’s Anesthesiology.
